The two displayed lockets are identical, their only difference is in how they were used. One locket sat idle while other was worn daily for three years. One locket is pristine, it's surface a perfect mirror, the other is scratched and weather worn. The used locket retains no trace of the reflective quality it originally had.
Early on, I learned to reflect other people and burying myself. The less of my personality I showed, the less friction there was between myself and my parents, my friends, or my significant others. Time would eventually reveal the flaws in this strategy for managing the world. These lockets commemorate that era.
